Here’s a Progressive Shooting Drill by Coach Tehron King in Barbados. This drill helps you work on your form, range and balance.
Start with “Perfects” directly in front of the hoop.
Every time you make 2 in a row, then take 2 steps back and go again.
Points of Emphasis:
- Shoot YOUR shot. Focus on your shooting form. Do not “chuck” or throw the Basketball. If you are not comfortable reaching the hoop from a certain distance with YOUR shot form, then you have reached your limit. Try to hold your follow through until the ball goes through the net.
- Do Not Jump. If you can shoot from range without jumping, imagine what you could do when you do jump.
- Balance! Try your hardest not to fall forward or to the side after your form shot. Balance is a major key for great shooters.
- You WILL reach a limit. Find out what yours is and try to eventually surpass it. In the original video, this drill came from an NCAA D1 Shooting Guard who went comfortably to the half court line.
